A: Friday, 30 July 2004 from 18:00-21:00 Q: How can I identify the Tag WLAN? A: The Tag Access Point will be broadcasting the SSID TAGME. Contestants will be given the MAC address of the Tag Access Point at check in. Do not attempt to associate to any access point other than the official Tag Access Point. Q: Once I find the TAGME Access Point, how do I win? A: You win by associating to the TAGME Access Point, discovering an exploit on one of the machines on that network and placing a PGP Signed file named TAG.TXT in the C:\Document and Settings\All Users\Desktop Q: What should the TAG.TXT file contain? A: TAG.TXT should be in the format: Name: YourScreenNameHere Contest: TAG DC12 MiniWD Contest Email: YourAccount [AT] YourISP [DOT] domain (This can be a throw away account. It is just for game verification purposes ONLY.) Q: What am I allowed to do to access this host? A: You can use any non-Denial of Service attack that you wish. Anyone caught attempt to DoS either the TAGME Access Point or any of the hosts on the TAGME network will be disqualified...and likely flogged. Q: How will I know that I have found the correct machine to place TAG.TXT on? A: This readme file will be PGP signed by Chris and reside in C:\Document and Settings\All Users\Desktop Q: How do I verify that the file is legit? A: Get Chris's PGP key (key ID 432DC5AC) from and of these servers and verify that the PGP signature is legit: keyserver pgp.mit.edu keyserver wwwkeys.pgp.net keyserver http://212.55.198.213:11371 keyserver http://18.7.14.139:11371 Q: How do I win? A: Be the first to place the TAG.TXT file on the box. Running Man-- Q: When does the Running Man Game take place? A: Saturday, 31 July 2004 from 13:00-14:00 Q: How can I identify the Running Man WLAN? A: The Running Man Access Point will be broadcasting an Ad-Hoc SSID: RunningMan. Contestants will be given the MAC address of the wireless card at check in. Do not attempt to associate to any Ad-Hoc network other than the official RunningMan peer. Q: Will the actual "Running Man" be trying to evade contestants? A: Well, they won't specifically run away if they think you are closing in. On the other hand, he/she/it will be just moving around whole the AP. Don't expect them to stand still and wait for you. Q: The contest rules mentioned "light cryptographic and puzzle solving skills" would be needed to help get clues. Care to elaborate? A: Not really, that would give too much away. Don't worry though, you will not need a Cray to crack this cyrpto. You should be able to figure this stuff out with a pencil and paper. Q: How will I know that I have found the correct machine? A: A readme file will be PGP signed by Chris and reside in the web server. Q: How do I verify that the file is legit? A: Get Chris's PGP key (key ID 432DC5AC) from and of these servers and verify that the PGP signature is legit: keyserver pgp.mit.edu keyserver wwwkeys.pgp.net keyserver http://212.55.198.213:11371 keyserver http://18.7.14.139:11371 Q: Can you give us any other hints right now? A: Let me think about that. No. Q: How do I win? A: Once you think you have the Running Man located, simply walk up to the 'suspect' and ask them "Are you the Running Man?" If they are the actual Running Man, they will answer "Yes" and you win! They will confirm this by showing you the items hinted at in the clues. Fox & the Hound-- Q: When does the Fox and Hound Mini Game take place? A: Saturday, 31 July 2004 from 18:00-21:00 Q: How can I identify the Fox WLAN? A: The Fox and the Hound Access Point will be broadcasting an infrastructure SSID: Fox&Hound. Contestants will be given the MAC address of the Access Point at check in. Do not attempt to associate to any other Access Point other than the official Fox. Q: Will the Fox be moving around? A: No, it should be at fixed location. Q: How did you get the AP to cycle the SSID transmit off and on for 15 seconds out of every minute? A: Black magic. A newbie for the NetStumbler Forums was offered up in an arcane sacrifice performed at the Church of the WiFi, at midnight, on a night with a full moon. No? Would you believe Kathy Lee loaned us cheap third-world child labor? The imported rugrat keeps turning the AP off and on. Ok, ok. It was a hardware hack. Details will be available at ftp.blackthornsystems.com after July 27th; look for the "Fox.pdf" file. Q: How do I win? A: You must PHYSICALLY locate the Fox. Once you think you have it located, a contest staff member will be nearby and confirm the win. Remember: Run a logging program. In the event that the Fox is not physically located, the team that comes up with the closest LOGGED Longitude and Latitude wins. (*.ns1 format.) Of course, everyone else gets to snicker at them for getting that close to the Fox and not actually finding it.
